Summer Immersion Experience

The Transitions Summer Immersion Experience is a two- or three-week readiness program for students with autism, ADHD and other learning differences. There are two concentrations: one is for students in high school and recent graduates who want to go to college and the other is for young adults up to age 27 who are thinking of living on their own with or without roommates.

Summer Immersion Experience Overview

Two- or three-week sessions beginning on the following dates:

July 9, 2017

July 30, 2017

Students will learn and build skills in:

  • Arts (classes available from the Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts)
  • Self-advocacy and self-monitoring
  • Social skills
  • College, career and life management (including a one-credit college course in career success and an internship at a local business)

Transitions isn’t all classrooms. We’ll take advantage of our Adirondack Mountains location and nearby destinations to provide students with fun opportunities to build lasting friendships.

Students will spend their nights in apartments, giving them a taste of independent life.

  • Internet, cable and laundry
  • Shuttle transportation
  • Peer mentors live in the apartments with the students for 24/7 support
