This series prepares students to become responsible and capable leaders. Starting with self-advocacy basics, students will research their disability and examine standard campus and government resources that supply or support disability services. Curriculum from the evidence-based University of Washington DO-IT program will teach the basics of how government policy affects those who receive services. Additionally, this series will discuss the time and place of disclosure regarding learning differences and how to let a school or employer know one’s strengths and needs. Safety, as it relates to travel, independent living, finances, computer communications and more, is also a major theme in this series.
